I'm curious as to something and maybe one of you here can help me on this. Why is Hillary hanging on to her delegates after she endorsed Obama? And also why is she keeping her staff together? I noticed that she is still asking people to contribute as well. I am confused. I thought she ended her campaign and I thought when you end your campaign you quit taking contributions. Anyone know what this is all about that can explain it to me? It seems to me that if she is truly going to support Obama and unite the party she would not be taking contributions and would let go of those delegates. I'm worried about Obama's campaign money now in going forward to beat McCain because McCain is now beating Obama in campaign contributions because there are no other Republicans receiving donations since the others have all withdrawn, the other 'viable' ones of course. And Obama is even paying 30 million to Clinton for her campaign debts. I hear a lot of the Obama supporters are really upset over this. And with half the country (Democrats) being still 'divided' it is really going to hurt Obama. I just don't understand this! I think she should release her delegates and stop accepting contributions. What I really don't understand is if she has endorsed Obama why she's keeping them. Okay....Destiny? Anyone? Will someone please 'splain this to me? Blonde ya know! hahahaha

Maybe this answers my question of above: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2008/06/hillary_clintons_movement.htmlTHE SWAMPJune 8th, 2008 Hillary Clinton's Movement by Christi Parsons There's a bona fide movement behind Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama ought to cash in on it by picking her as his running mate. So says Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the Clinton friend who hosted the preliminary make-up meeting between the two Democratic rivals this past week. "No one brings to a ticket what Hillary brings," Feinstein told George Stephanopoulos this morning, on ABC's This Week, a day after Clinton conceded the race for the party's presidential nomination to Obama. "Eighteen million people committed to where she's going . . . Trust me, there is a movement." In addition to using the 18 million figure, Feinstein also argued that Clinton won the popular vote, another fact that is the subject of some dispute. Still, the more important fact underpinning her argument is hard to contest. "Women were really invested in this candidacy," she said, and "they believe she got treated poorly." Feinstein says her friend is wholly on board to help Democrats win this fall. Clinton arrived half an hour before Obama at her Washington home for their meeting this past week, she said, and the two sat in the living room and talked for a while. "She expressed to me the depth of her concern and caring," Feinstein said. "She recognizes that it's over. And I think every instinct in Hillary Clinton is to help." Would another woman candidate fill the bill? She hasn't thought about that specifically, Feinstein said at one point, though at another she said she had "looked at every other possible candidate." Her conclusion, she said, was simple. "No one brings to a ticket what Hillary brings," she said.

I do not know that she is hanging on to her delegates, I couldn't tell from her speech, when she said she was throwing her full support I wasn't sure what that meant. However, just as John had an agenda, she has one as well, perhaps if she holds her delegates to the convention she believes that she can advance her platform.
As far as staff and stuff, couple things, if she thinks she will be vp candidate, she would still need them. She is deep in the hole financially and suspended so she could continue to raise money to pay off her debt.

So if he chooses her to be his VP will they combine their finances? I don't recall ever donating money to a Vice Presidential candidate or even being asked by one. I am pretty sure he's going to pay off her 30 million debt so she won't have to worry about that. I heard on the news last night that according the the rules she had to offer refunds to certain donors. And they could either refuse them or let her keep them for a future campaign. Something to that effect. I'm going to do some research on it today so that I can better understand it. Roadon mentioned that keeping her delegates gives her more power at the convention and also she is really still in the running if something happens to Obama....like some really bad scandal were to crop up or whatever. Also, I've been hearing that what she really wants is a position for Bill. Honestly though Destiny I can't see him being a Supreme Court Justice. I do think Obama is going to choose her as his running mate. And I don't think it's cause he's going to feel 'forced' into it. I think he will do it because he really thinks that together they can win and they share pretty much the same goals. And also, she can get him the coffee. LOL Kiddddinggggggg!

I agree with destiny that her delegates will give her power in forming the Dem. platform--especially where her healthcare plan is concerned. She actually stressed "Universal Healthcare" in her speech.
I've also heard that Obama is not going to use contributions from his small donors to pay off Hillary's debts. Instead he will be going to his wealthiest donors to raise new funds specifically targeted for her debts. That way small donors won't feel cheated.

Do you have a link or anywhere that I can find so I can post this over at the official Obama site? I'm really happy to hear that! So that's legal? To ask people to donate money for someone elses campaign debt? It's really interesting......the rules. LOL Thanks!

Well I also think they may do some kind of switch up, as apparently clinton raised quite a bit of money for the GE, from her donors that maxed for the primary, but she can't use it to pay off the primary debt, but she can transfer it to obama for the ge, so, to follow that logic they can basically swap money.
Also, did you hear? Obama is apparently bringing Elizabeth on to deal with Healthcare.
