I've heard a lot of speeches today but one thing was said that I don't know how anyone can possibly dispute:

Donna B said this:

"When I was growing up my mama taught me to play by the rules."

"And once you all agreed to the rules and the game started,
if you decided to change the rules in midstream....that was called CHEATING!!!"

~~~~~~~
My parents taught me to play by the same rules and this is the way I have always lived my life.
And this is why I have never liked cheaters!
 Sad
We've lived the last seven years in this country with someone who didn't believe in 'playing by the rules'!!!!
Isn't it time to stop the cheating?
Isn't it time to start being honest?
I say it's way beyond time!
But then that's the way I see lilfe!
Well , Well , Well  seat the FL delegates 1/2 vote each, seat the MI delegates 1/2 vote each. What was the divide with Florida I missed that but I got MI  69/59. With MI they said they are disenfranchising 600,000 voters. We knew they were going to seat the delegates but we did not know the %'s. This is something I heard from  Bob, my partner but I never heard it myself ever. He said that Howard Dean was going to do everything in his power to prevent Hillary from being the nominee. He said it was said once then they cut it and never repeated it again. Any one here hear that?  I sure have not but it seems to me that it was decided from the start, look at Edwards and all his experience. Hillary is out, the pundits say so after the DNC vote and yes I'm sad because I have 10 legitimate reasons why I would perfer Hillary over Obama but no matter what, hurt or not we have to get that White House in 2008, we just have to there is no doubt about that. What will go on from here I don't know, the vote was so close to seat all in Florida fully, 12/15. Is this going to stop here? I believe it should and just rap it up, only my view on it but I know the DNC does not want it going to the convention that was always obvious. It goes to Obama by the vote of the DNC today. I say let Hillary go on until Wednesday, heck she went this far might as well finish it with South Dakota, Montana and Porter Rico, I sure would if I were her so I expect that she will, there is no reason at this late date not to do so. I still think Hillary will have the popular vote but it never mattered before and it would not matter now. Delegates are Delegates and they have the rule and that is why I hope in the future that the Democratic National Committee and heck even the Republican National Committee no longer will have the elite rule but the people. We need to do something about that and all agreed we did in the original JRE blog site and after. We also need to do something about the  biased media and we also have to get a 3rd Party that is equal to the huge two parties we have now. Lot's of work to do.
You know Marline.  I think they, the DNC Committee on this affair, did the best they could under the circumstances.  I wish I could say I am really happy with the results.  I guess I would be except that I don't feel this is the end of it by any stretch.
I still maintain, as I have all along, that Clinton will take it all the way to the Supreme Court.
And I honestly don't understand all the inner workings of it.  From what I watched I thought there were a very few, on both sides, who wanted to do the most 'fair and equitable' thing they could do in order to satisfy, the voters, the candidates, the party and the country.  However, for the most part what I witnessed was political posturing and and threatening and spoiled reactions and just an incredible lack of integrity and honor.
I'm only a Democrat till this election year is over with and then I'm going back to being an Independent!  This SUCKS!!!!
"Well.....Hello President McCain-to-be!!!"  I bet he enjoyed the heck out of this!
Btw.....for those who missed it Ickes could never be a member of the JREMC site.  "HELL", he would be booted out on his "ASS", "ASS", "ASS"!!!!!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Wink
hahahahaha
Another thing about the results of this Campaign.  I actually think it lent strength to Clinton's position because the DNC changed the rules.....
If they had stuck to the original decision....that MI and FL would not be counted then I don't think the 'grounds for a challenge' would be as viable.  But then I'm not a lawyer and so I don't know the answer to this for sure.
I'm sure Destiny can answer this for us though!
"Thank God Howard Dean did not become President", I sure 3rd that.
Maybe this is not the end, we have McCain and Obama's record is not much to speak of so we better hope we get the White House in 2008 and keep it.
Oh I forgot, I might want to mention that we all were against the DNC, media, delegates in what they did to John, do we now forget or should we remember? When is okay and not okay? The truth is it's not okay We The People, let's remember that and do something about it for our future, any one for 2012? Grin
I think the decision on Michigan is the decision that gives her her strongest argument.  At least in fla they didn't reallocate the delegates, they just reduced the value of their votes, that actually doesn't seem inconsistent with the rules I have seen.  Michigan, WTF?  No clue how they thought that "compromise" up.  I think we will know fairly soon after the remaining primaries what she will do. I think if she wins two of them by margins like those in WV and KY, she will at least take it to the floor of the convention, if she barely wins them, I doubt it.  A UK paper had an article saying Obama was extending a position to her on healthcare, enticing enough for her? I doubt it, I think she could do more good in the Senate.
The DRBC arrived at the Michigan delegate total based on the plan put forth by the Michigan state Democratic Party. This plan was the one presented by Carl Levin. It was signed off on by all of the major players in the state of Michigan including all of those who supported Sen. Clinton. They based their numbers on exit polls & 30000 write-in votes for Obama. Voters in Michigan were told to vote uncommitted if they supported any of the other candidates besides Clinton. They feel comfortable assigning the entire total of uncommitted votes to Obama, because all of those other candidates have endored Obama except Biden & he did not object. The Michigan state party people based their plan on the intent of the voter which is a time-honored method of determining the vote total in contested elections. David Bonoir presented the Obama plan for a 50-50 spilt, which would have given Clinton 64 & Obama 64. On one of the Sun. morning talk shows Bonoir stated that they actually had the votes on the committee to go with that plan. Instead, Bonoir was instructed by the Obama campaign to agree to the Michigan state Democratic Party plan as a concession to Sen. Clinton. Sen. Clinton actually wanted to take the 73 delegates & give Obama nothing. Their argument was that voting uncommitted was not a vote for Obama. His name was not on the ballot, so no one could have voted for him. That is the plan she has pushed & pushed & pushed for when she was telling everybody to count the vote in Michigan. It is one of the major reasons I decided to support Sen. Obama. I felt she was not really interested in representing the intent of the voters in Michigan. Rather she just wanted those 73 delegates & she didn't want him to have anything. That didn't seem honorable to me. I do think the Clinton campaign may have presented a plan to give him the 55 uncommitteds & her the 73. The fact that the vote on the committee was 19-8 means that at least 5 declared Clinton supporters went with the Michigan state plan. Clinton had 13 declared supporters on that committee.
Great post on exactly what happened!  LOL  You wrote is just like it happened.  It's interesting that you and I both process our information in very much the same way.  However, what you just spelled out is exactly how it really did come down.  And this...
>>>Sen. Clinton actually wanted to take the 73 delegates & give Obama nothing.<<<
That was a major turn off to me too.  To me, a Candidate who would be this unfair to her opponent during the Campaign is lacking in the honorable qualities that I look for in a President.  I think this was a 'turning point' for me too, AG.  Back when she first began to protest Michigan and didn't want him to have any votes at all......I was actually shocked that she could really even think that way.  And it was more shocking to me that her supporters also thought it was okay.  Sad
Breaking news now......about Clinton.
